25th May 2018 - as well as GDPR coming into force, it's also National Wine Day

25th May 2018 - there is a lot to celebrate today!

There has been a lot of talk about this date, but for those who have heard enough about GDPR, we take a break and look at what else is happening on this auspicious date… we are happy to report that 25th May is a cause to celebrate – wherever you are in the world, or whatever your interests.

I’ll drink to that

Red or white, fizzy or flat –25th May is National Wine Day - a celebration of the fruits of the vine in all their forms. Wine has been a favourite of many cultures across the ages, it is now made globally and takes many forms, including vegetable wine, glass of prune and parsnip anyone? If you like a nice Argentinian Malbec you can have a double toast to celebrate May Revolution Day, as May 25th is indeed also a public holiday in Argentina, celebrating the famous 1810 revolution!

Whatever your preference, why not rejoice in this day, celebrate with a tipple, it may even help remove recent memories of over indulgence in data protection activities.

Don't panic!

25th May 2018 - don't panic - there's lots to celebrate today
If wine is not your thing, you may be looking for something more comforting to provide solace and support. Those with a penchant for sci-fi may be celebrating 25th May as the renowned ‘Towel Day’. Followers of the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy can globally be found by walking around with a nice fluffy towel – as according this infamous work of Douglas Adams “A towel, … is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons.”

Take a GDPR break

Be it the birth of legendary lyricist Paul Weller in 1958, to the release of the original Star Wars movie in 1997, 25th of May is a day to relax and celebrate, with wine, rhyme or even a bit of ageing sci-fi.

We at Astrid will be celebrating this day in our own ways, from cider festivals through to Cornish walks – we will of course be back and fresh to support you all with the impending GDPR hangover!
